The Remote Optical Watcher (ROW) is an advanced non-contact sensor engineered for precise oil spill detection and comprehensive environmental monitoring. Designed for continuous 24/7/365 water monitoring, it can be deployed anywhere, from local to remote sites. Its non-contact design eliminates issues with marine biofouling or coating of its optical window, ensuring exceptional reliability with minimal maintenance – a crucial benefit for remote deployments.
Using UV fluorescence, the oil spill ROW is mounted above pits, channels and any body of water to monitor for the presence of hydrocarbons on its surface. An adjustable threshold is set and any level of detection above the threshold will trigger an output. An oil spill ROW can be installed up to 10m/33ft above the water surface. Algal bloom detectors are also mounted above water and target the presence of chlorophyll-a, a pigment common to all algae. Similar to the oil spill detector, an output will be triggered when algae levels increase above the set threshold.
